Competition Details

Teams have two hours to write and produce their rundown before the assigned competition time. Two students serve as the news anchor team, one student serves as the team’s director/technical director, and one student is the floor director. Teams will produce and complete a three-minute newscast as if it were live. Teams are evaluated on their broadcast writing ability, voice quality, diction, timing and pacing and performance techniques.

Technical Standards

The career competitions of the SkillsUSA Washington Championships follow the current edition of the SkillsUSA Technical Standards. These are available to professional members (advisors and teachers) as a membership benefit following their submission of membership.

Membership Dues

  • Mandatory for student and advisor. Deadline December 20 or before competitions.
  • $ 20.00 Per Student & $ 30.00 Per Adviser. One Time payment Per School Year Membership.
